Catalyst STEM Stream

The Catalyst STEM stream at Nova welcomed its first Year 7 scholars in September 2022. It offers a unique learning provision for talented scholars to innovate, explore and excel in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. It is designed for scholars who have a natural aptitude for learning and a keen interest in the STEM subjects.

Scholars in the Catalyst Stream will benefit from an in-depth, fast paced curriculum and enjoy unique opportunities to explore their interests, conducting research into specific areas relating to STEM. They are expected to take part in a co-curricular programme in order for them to further their skills and opportunities, preparing them to go to top universities and take on roles in the STEM sector in later life.

The stream is underpinned by Nova Hreod Academy’s core values of Drive, Integrity, Scholarship and Contribution. It is rooted in Swindon's rich history of innovation in technology, design and engineering. Catalyst scholars will be enabled to play a significant role in society, invigorating industry in Swindon, the UK and the world.

The additional opportunities provided by the Catalyst scheme will help identify budding scientists and engineers, nurturing their enthusiasm for the subjects and setting them on the path for a successful and rewarding career.
