GCSE delight for Year 11

There is joy at Nova Hreod Academy today as Year 11 students celebrate receiving their GCSE results.

  • Nova's results are among the top results in Swindon. 
  • Nova has seen some of the biggest improvements of any school in Swindon
  • Nova students achieved the highest proportion of grades at 7+ in the school's history, 26% of grades were a 7 or above. 
  • There was a 12% improvement in English and Maths results at Grade 5 or above. 
  • 53% of students achieved a 5 or above in English/Maths - the highest in the school's history.
  • 43% achieved the Ebacc - highest in the school's history. 

Across the year group, there were some strong performances, including students who achieved the very top grades, setting them up for bright and promising futures. 

Among those students celebrating today are:

  • Louise, who achieved seven Grade 9s and one Grade 8;
  • Layth, who achieved three Grade 9s and five Grade 8s;
  • Ono, who achieved five Grade 9s, two Grade 8s and one Grade 7;
  • Ethan, who achieved four Grade 9s, three Grade 8s and one Grade 7;
  • Jay, who achieved three Grade 9s, four Grade 8s and one Grade 7

Louise said of her results:

“I’m very proud of my results and I’m looking forward to going to New College in September.”

Ono said:

I’m especially proud of my English result because I’d struggled in that subject before, but it was a good result. I’m going to Cirencester College.”

School Captain Layth said of his results:

“I’m happy with my results, particularly RE which was my best result which I worked hard for.”

I am very proud of all students at Nova Hreod for achieving this excellent set of results. This group of students has faced disruption to their educational journey due to the pandemic, yet they have remained focused and driven. Their results are a testament to their hard work as well as to the enduring support of their teachers and families.

“We have seen significant improvements in our results this year and so I would like to express my gratitude to our dedicated staff who have worked tirelessly to support students throughout their time at Nova Hreod. I know they will join me in wishing all our Year 11 students the very best of luck with their next steps.”
