This weekend, a group of enthusiastic Year 5 and 6 pupils from local primary schools embarked on an exciting journey into the world of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) as an introduction to the Catalyst STEM Stream at Nova Hreod Academy. The event offered a taste of maths and computing that left the young participants buzzing with excitement.

One of the highlights of the day was the robot programming activity. The pupils worked together to program a robot to follow a specific route, an exercise that combined their newly acquired coding skills with teamwork and strategic thinking. The sight of the robot successfully navigating its path brought cheers and smiles.

The next Taster Session is on Saturday 7th December 2024, where students will engage in interactive experiments to understand the properties of acids and bases, learning how these substances react with each other and their importance in everyday life. The session will also introduce the basics of DNA, the building block of life, through engaging activities that highlight its structure and function.
