Nova Hreod Academy is committed to high standards and high achievement for all. For us, a Specific Educational Need is not a barrier to excellence, or an excuse for low aspirations. We welcome students with Statements/EHC Plans as well as those on lower level intervention and pride ourselves on our inclusive ethos.

We recognise every student is an individual and brings a unique personality as well as individual strengths and needs. The following pages identified our schools SEND information and offer to support our students with SEND.

SEND is the title given to Special Educational needs and Disabilities; there are 4 key areas of SEND

Cognition and learning

my child has difficulties with the learning and literacy parts of the classroom, this results in them finding some of the work hard 

Communication and interaction

my child finds it difficult to communicate effectively, this is sometimes speech, language and understanding what others are saying.

Social, emotional and mental health

my child has difficulties managing and coping with their emotions and mental wellbeing. This is sometimes shown as challenging behaviours.

Physical and sensory

my child has difficulties with their senses and/or physical need, this could be a visual or hearing impairment as well as a physical impairment that requires additional support.
