Prospectus 2016 - page 3

We know that learning does not begin and end at the classroom door and that to access the very best
opportunities in life, young people need the very best learning experiences.
We are able to offer a unique opportunity for students to join the Combined Cadet Force at
Marlborough College.
Our relationship with The Brilliant Club helps students in Key Stage 3 to develop the potential to secure
places at highly selective universities.
Clubs and activities (usually called ‘enrichment’) take place every day, both at lunchtime
and after school. Students are encouraged to get involved in a range of activities including
debating, productions, sports clubs and the school choir.
Many students have benefited from involvement in the Duke of Edinburgh Award and have
visited some of the country’s top universities as part of our drive to raise aspirations.
Literacy is encouraged through our reading scheme and involvement in the Swindon Youth
Festival of Literature.
“My advice to anyone thinking about
doing the DofE would be “go for it.”
It’s all good, it’s a good thing to have
on your CV and it’s been a fantastic
experience.”
