As we enter the final week of term, I would like to
extend my thanks to staff, students, parents and carers
alike for what has been a highly productive year at
Nova Hreod Academy and a year in which Nova has
made great leaps forward.
Before reflecting on the accomplishments of our
students, at the end of my first full year at Nova I
would personally like to thank all members of the
community for their unstinting support with regards to
the huge number of positive changes that have
occurred at Nova this year. The feedback from
students, parents and carers on binary behaviour,
uniform, quality of teaching, homework, assessment
and extra curricula engagement has been
overwhelming in its positivity and I would like to thank
all those who have taken the time to feedback on the
changes that have happened at Nova.
Our students have surpassed themselves this academic
year in a wide variety of ways.
Particular highlights for me are:
n which our Year 7 students
participated during the Spring Term to write extended
essays on subject matter beyond the bounds of the
school curriculum under the supervision of a PhD tutor
from Royal Holloway College.
The
programme that Year 10
students have been following. At the time of writing,
the students are completing their expeditions and we
look forward to seeing Nova students receive their
bronze awards during the course of the next year.
Our Student Council which has been re-invigorated this
academic year and has represented the school with
distinction when speaking to visitors from United
Learning and to prospective parents in recent weeks.
Particularly noteworthy is the fundraising that the
students have done for Nepal.
Looking ahead to next academic year, we are excited
about the launch of the
n
partnership with Marlborough College and establishing
teams to compete in the local
competition.
For Year 11 students, exam results will be available
from 9.00am on Thursday 20
th
August and we look
forward to welcoming students back into school on this
day with their parents/carers to celebrate their exam
success.
Finally may I wish all readers a safe and happy summer
holiday and say already how much I am looking
forward to the start of the new term in September!
