Student Council Election
As the country voted in the General Election on 7
th
May, the students at Nova Hreod Academy also discovered
what it is like to take part in an election. In the weeks preceding the election, students had voted in their tutor
groups for the students they would like to represent them on the student council. On Election day all of the ‗Tutor
Reps‘ were given the opportunity to run for the position of ‗Year Rep‘ and to represent their year group in whole
school council meetings.
Upon arrival at the polling stations, students were given a ballot slip and chose one girl and one boy to represent
their year group. The students then posted their vote into a ballot box just like in a real election. Votes were
counted and verified and the winning candidates were announced at the end of the day.
Our new student council are pictured on the front cover; they are very enthusiastic about their new opportunity to
take an active part in the running of the school and work on a variety of activities in the Nova Hreod community.
