From Mona Lisa to Hyperspace Mountain

The Year 10 Paris Trip was a great success and undoubtedly one of the highlights of the school year. Forty students travelled across the Channel to experience the sights, culture and cuisine of one of Europe's most iconic cities, enjoying a packed itinerary filled with unforgettable experiences and opportunities to learn beyond the classroom.

During the trip, students took part in a range of educational and cultural activities that brought French language, history and art to life. A visit to the world-famous Louvre Museum, gave students the chance to explore one of the world's most prestigious art galleries and see the iconic Mona Lisa up close. Students were fascinated by the scale of the museum and the opportunity to experience such an important cultural landmark first-hand.

The group also enjoyed a relaxing riverboat cruise along the River Seine, taking in spectacular views of central Paris from the water. Passing some of the city's most famous landmarks provided a unique perspective on the French capital and helped students appreciate its rich history and stunning architecture.

For some, the trip offered the opportunity to be adventurous when it came to French cuisine. Several students bravely sampled escargots (snails) for the first time. While there was some initial hesitation, many were surprised to find that they actually enjoyed this traditional French delicacy. Throughout the trip, students had numerous opportunities to practise their French language skills in authentic situations, helping to build confidence and independence.

After busy days of sightseeing and exploring, students were able to unwind each evening with a swim. These sessions were a welcome chance to relax, socialise with friends and recharge for the next day's activities.

A visit to Disneyland Paris was, of course, one of the most eagerly anticipated parts of the trip and did not disappoint. Students enthusiastically embraced all the attractions and rides, with the entire group bravely taking on Hyperspace Mountain. There was plenty of excitement, laughter and adrenaline as students challenged themselves on some of the park's most popular rides. They also enjoyed exploring the park, spending time with friends, purchasing souvenirs and cuddly toys, and creating memories that will stay with them for years to come.

Before heading home, students visited a local supermarket to stock up on a variety of French treats and goodies. This proved to be a popular stop, with many returning home with bags full of chocolates, sweets and other French favourites. It also provided another excellent opportunity for students to experience everyday French life and practise their language skills in a real-world setting.

The trip was a fantastic blend of education, culture and fun, allowing students to develop their independence, broaden their horizons and experience life in a different country. Most importantly, it created many shared memories and strengthened friendships across the year group.

A huge thank you to all the staff who helped make this trip possible, particularly those who accompanied the students throughout the visit. Their dedication, enthusiasm and care ensured the trip ran smoothly from start to finish and provided students with an enriching and memorable experience that they will remember for many years to come.
