Success on a Plate

Nova Hreod Academy / Categories: News

In the first term of the SuperNova enrichment programme, students in Food Technology have been focusing on Competition Cookery. As a result, we are thrilled to announce that we have been very successful in both of the competitions that we entered.

Year 11 students Julia (Aquila 5) and Lizzie (Orion 8) are through to the regional heats of Springboard Futurechef 2019 in January where they must cook a two course meal for two covers in 90 minutes.

Together with Year 10 student Abby (Orion 7), Julia and Lizzie have also reached the national final of the Teflon™ Diamond Standard Awards at the Waitrose Cookery School in London. The students have to produce ‘baked’ items. This competition will be over a whole day and has fantastic prizes on offer including the chance to win a prestigious three-year Advanced Apprenticeship, offering an opportunity to train in all aspects of professional cookery at the highest level. The Scholarship is arranged by the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts (RAOCA) and is managed by The Bournemouth & Poole College.

Congratulations to all three girls, we wish them every success in the next round.
